Quite a lot has happened.
The trees lost their leaves and the cold and the birds have descended. This city has become noticeably darker with rain clouds and ravens... Yesterday we had our first brief snowfall.
Yesterday I also said goodbye to my brother and his friends who were visiting for the week. Here we are pictured with gifts that we made for eachother the evening that we decided to celebrate Christmas. It was grand. My brother is pretty cool.
On the job front: Somehow I acquired four jobs. Yet, I remain poor and with lots of time on my hands to cook and sew and dream.
I just started a job that I absolutely love so far, and that I can see myself becoming busy with and staying at for awhile (if the first day is an accurate indication of the way things really are!)
The job is at an organization that provides a recreation-based day program for adults with disabilities. My first day there I spent drinking tea and playing 'Sorry' for the first bit. Then we broke into groups according to what everyone felt like doing that day. I ended up making art and Christmas presents with a group for the rest of the day, stopping only to go for a walk around the neighborhood and eat lunch.
The clients are also incredibly inquisitive and conversational. I spent much of the day answering questions such as: Do you like Bryan Adams? Randy Travis? Shania Twain? What do you want for Christmas? What did you eat for supper last night? Do you like turkey?
It is a huge change from my other jobs and I love it.
I am happy.
