It has been an interesting holiday season with complications of snow. Vancouver (I've heard) hasn't seen this much in about 40 years! Here are two photos of my street taken on December 22.
And here is the same street two days later--Christmas eve.
The normal Christmas craziness was hushed because of the snowfall, but a different kind of craziness ensued. Loads of people were snowed in, and many jobs and flights were cancelled.
I was fortunate enough to make it home through the snow, though not until 5:00am on Christmas morning due to all the delays!
I thought I would return back, this new year, to the snowfall situation subsided, since snow in this city generally lasts no longer than three days. But, that was not to be the case as our flight back was cancelled due to another snowstorm! We finally returned on Monday afternoon to this snowy city. Many cars still stuck in the same place as they were two weeks earlier.
The last couple of days the weather has warmed and what would have been another snow storm has turned to rain... and more rain. And now, as waters overtake the mounds of snow, this has become one sloppy city.
Regardless, I am glad to be back and excited about 2009!
Although, I had such a wonderful and relaxing time with my family in Alberta that I do miss them...
